Weavings with a feel
To bind, to cover or to divide. Textile artist Marianne Kemp weaves with a feel, she specializes in weaving with horsehair. When taking a closer look at her work one can see that each piece has a unique character granted by her unconventional weaving techniques and the combination of the texture, colour and movement. The lustre of horsehair gives an extraordinary effect to her work.
Marianne’s exclusive fabric designs with horsehair create an inner stillness through the serene recurrence of patterns. Other work is extravert and playful and reflects exuberant cheerfulness. One not only wishes to see each piece but also to touch it.
Cooperation with designers from different disciplines opened the way to developing new patterns and textures into woven textiles, 3D objects and installations. Marianne feels that time has come to explore new ways of combining architecture and textile art, the challenge is to create a space divided by textile and yet, be experienced as a whole.
All weavings are made in house and can be applied as lighting objects, to cover the body, to divide rooms or to bind different materials into wall panels or to cover windows.
Woven upholstery fabric is also available as “The Marianne Kemp” range, mechanically woven at John Boyd Textiles, UK.
